Shraddha Agrawal is an Electronics and Communication Engineer who found her calling in working to create alternative source of livelihood in rural Bihar!
After completing her MBA from Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal, instead of joining another multi-national company, Shraddha chose to work in her native state Bihar joining JEEVIKA, an initiative of the Government of Bihar.
Her training in a rural village was an eye-opener. In her own words:
"It was the first time I was staying in a village and it was a real eye opener for me as I got to know what rural people lagged from and what sort of difficulties they face in leading a normal life. It made me realize that this is the sector I want to work for. If I would be able to improve quality of life for even one family I would think of myself as successful."
Shraddha is currently working on very interesting projects working to mobilize the women laborers of our community who are looking for livelihood, to work for MGNREGA, a government rural employment guarantee scheme. Shraddha worked in three major districts of Bihar (Gaya, Madhubani and Muzaffarpur) and was given 49 consultants to work for this project .
For another project, she helps train local women to assemble and distribute solar lamp to schools at a fixed rate. She is also working on another challenging project to make villages of Bihar "Open Defecation Free".
