Vimal Kedia never settles for silver. Since the day he turned entrepreneur, he has been a pioneer in every business he has been involved with. From being one of the first large-scale manufacturer of umbrellas in rain-affected Assam to introducing several firsts as the head of India’s largest rigid packaging company; Vimal Kedia has emerged as a role model for pioneering innovation.
Under his leadership, Manjushree Technopack has evolved from being a humble manufacturing unit into the largest producer of PET bottles and Preforms in South Asia with a capacity of over 140,000 metric tonnes and revenues over Rs. 625 crores.
Even as his company enjoys undisputed leadership in the packaging industry, Vimal Kedia isn’t finished. He is now out to raise Manjushree’s profile in the fast-growing field of ‘Green plastics’. After setting up a LEED Gold Certified manufacturing facility – the first of its kind in India - for preforms at Bidadi, Karnataka, he is now overseeing the establishment of REUSUEM, a recycle innovation centre that would encourage artists, entrepreneurs, technocrats, and students to explore the many possibilities in Recycling and Green Plastics. His drive to encourage and advocate plastics recycling also resulted in Manjushree along with PlastIndia Foundation entering the Guinness World Records for producing the world’s largest Tshirt made of recycled plastics.
The celebrated businessman is also recognised as a renowned connoisseur of packaging artefacts. His brainchild – the Manjushree Heritage Museum of Packaging Design houses over 3,000 items and is listed in the Limca Book of World Records. In 2013, he produced ‘Reflections’ – a coffee table book on packaging design and in 2017 ‘Game Changers’ – a booklet that was a tribute to his clients which celebrated 30 most outstanding packaging designs of the modern times.
